It is done! the pricelist for 2024 was updated based on our expenditures, the USDA pricelists, and local farm and ranch prices. It is a tricky balance, as we have heritage breed cattle and hogs, resulting in higher expenditures for the slow growing animals, but resulting in the very best beef and pork!

We want to take a moment to thank all of those that have supported our ranch and helped us get to where we are today! 

4 Bear Ranch, LLC beef and pork products are raised in the 9-Mile Valley and brought to Superior Meats for processing. All of our meats processed for sale are State inspected - allowing us to sell our meat to you! However, since the inspection is not USDA, we are only authorized to sell our meat in Montana. Our beef is aged 14 days and then cut in various ways to provide our customers a variety! Our pork is brought to the processor and butchered in several ways, again, giving our customers options on cuts. There are times throughout the year in which we have a live animal (primarily hogs) for sale, in which we can deliver to the butcher on a scheduled date, and you as the customer provide the cut sheet. 

Our poultry products are raised at the ranch and are processed under the regulations in Montana Local Food Choice Act and the FDA. Under the Montana Local Food Choice Act, poultry may be grown and butchered while the processor (4 Bear Ranch) is exempt from food licensure, permitting, certification, packaging, labeling, and inspection regulations when selling items to an informed consumer. There are records we must maintain based on the purchase of chicks, or hatch dates, and name, address, and phone number of customers buying the poultry. We butcher our poultry in the most humane way possible and use stainless steel processing equipment cleaned with a soapy bleach solution. We do not have a temperature controlled indoor space for processing, so outdoor temps dictate when processing will be completed to keep chickens as cool as possible during the processing operation. Once the process is completed, our poultry are placed in a deep freeze. All poultry products are butchered and packaged as whole birds, skin on, with necks in body cavity. We do not process any of the organs at this time. We also do not butcher any poultry not raised on our ranch.

Items purchased will be delivered to you at a public meeting location, or your door, not to exceed 50 miles from Huson, MT. The minimum purchase order for delivery is $25. Delivery of items outside of Huson, Frenchtown, and Alberton, will incur a minimum delivery charge of $10. There is no minimum purchase order for pick-up at pre-coordinated markets or from the ranch itself.

We take Venmo Payments @MT4BearRanch (last 4 of cell 3486), cash, or check. If we are within cellular range, or have internet access, we can also take credit or debit using the Square app and technology.

At the ranch we follow safe food handling practices when preparing any homemade food and food product. The kitchen and/or processing stations are cleaned top to bottom prior to making food for our customers. We are working towards obtaining our retail food license (basically ensuring the safe storage of your meat before you buy it and after storage at Superior Meats): The meat was processed at Superior Meats, or it was processed by us if poultry. The meat was then in Superior's freezers until we picked it up and transported it home (Beef and Pork only). Once home, we logged the meat to inventory and placed the items in our ranch dedicated chest freezers. The chest freezers have a wireless digital thermometer in it that reads to the thermometer base in the kitchen. The warmest the freezer has ever gotten is 0*F, the coldest -15*F, the average sits around -5.3*F. We have not lost power, nor have any reason to believe our meat is not safe for consumption. If we aren't going to eat it, we certainly aren't going to sell it to our friends, neighbors, and community - we kinda like you all!
